Huge congratulations to Independent Social Care Provider, Precious Homes’, Maintenance Operative, Raymond Leigh, who was named Ancillary Worker of the Year at the East of England Great British Care Awards in January.

The team have over 20 years’ experience of delivering support services for adults and young people with autism spectrum condition (ASC), learning disabilities, mental health needs, behaviour which may be described as challenging and associated health care needs.
Lisa Galloway, Director of Operations at Precious Homes said: “Ray works across our Milton Keynes services and was nominated by colleagues in recognition of the amazing and natural way he involves the people we support in maintaining their services, as well as increasing their skills through gardening, repairs and decorating with Ray’s support.”
The Great British Care award recognises the excellent person centred service ancillary workers provide to individuals supported. In this category the judges were looking for an individual who demonstrates dignity and respect through ancillary services. Candidate roles included catering support, maintenance operatives, cleaners and activity co-ordinators.
Ray joined hundreds of people at the glittering East of England award ceremony on the 13th January 2017 to celebrate the last Regional Final.
Lisa adds: “It’s fantastic that Ray has won this award and has been recognised for his work. He certainly goes above and beyond in his role. He really understands and treats each person as an individual – demonstrating respect and treating them with dignity.”
Greg Lapham, Precious Homes’ Chief Operating Officer, said: "Ray has set the benchmark of how a maintenance operative should work in other people's homes and how to go about encouraging them to assist in maintaining their environments both inside and out. Well done and thank you to Ray. We are proud to have him as part of our team."
Ray will now join all Regional Winners from across The UK at the National Finals which are being held on 31st March 2017 at the ICC in Birmingham. Good luck Ray!
