100th birthday celebration at Hartlepool care home

The party saw friends and family commemorating the milestone at Queens Meadow Care Home, in Hartlepool.
Mary was born on 2nd February 1916 and lived on Lynn Street, in Hartlepool, before moving to Lincoln with husband Robert during WW2.
After Robert was killed in 1943, Mary moved back to Hartlepool and spent 45 years working in Singer Sewing Machines, where she also ran classes teaching local women to sew.

Hartlepool Ceremonial Mayor Councillor Mary Fleet and Mayoress Councillor Sheila Griffin also attended to wish Mary well.
Mary, who has lived at Queens Meadow Care Home for seven years, said: "I've had a lovely day. All my family came to the home and I've really enjoyed it."
Julie Armstrong, manager of Queens Meadow Care Home, said: "Mary is one of the most thoughtful, loving and inspirational women at Queens Meadow Care Home and we're really pleased she could celebrate her birthday with her family at the home.
